Mountain Top on the Move’s
29th Anniversary Independence Day Parade
In cooperation with Fairview and Wright Townships, Mountain Top on the Move will be sponsoring the 29th Annual Fourth of July Parade. We are pleased to welcome on board the First Keystone Community Bank as the parade’s major corporate sponsor. The parade will start at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, the Fourth of July.
Everyone is welcome to attend and new participants, commercial and otherwise, are welcome to participate. Political candidates are also welcome to participate.
The Grand Marshall this year is Dave Hourigan, honored for his many years of community service, to include 34 years as President of Fairview Township Hose Co. #1.
Honored guests will include PA State Reps Gerald Mullery, Eddie Day Pashinski, and Luzerne Council Members. Many other guests are also expected to be added.
An exciting new addition this year will be an Opening Event: Bikes 4 Stripes Motorcycle Ride starting at 09:45 a.m. from the First Keystone Community Bank's parking lot. Many dozens of decorated motorcycles will salute the Fourth by leading the main body of the parade.
We ask that parade participants show up along Route 309 at approximately 09:15 a.m. and be ready to line up on Route 309 at approximately 09:30 a.m. when the police close down the highway.
The parade will line up on Route 309 between the Chalet Restaurant and Coldwell Banker. It will proceed to the Triangle Intersection, south on South Main Road, and through the Wright Township Municipal Park. It will end at the Wright Township Municipal Building. Coldwell Banker real estate agents will be passing out American flags along the route.
Free drinks and hot dogs will be available at Wright Twp.
At the Wright Township Municipal Park, patriotic ceremonies will commence at 11:30 a.m. Events will include the singing of America the Beautiful, a Flag Raising Ceremony by American Legion Post 781, the singing of the National Anthem, a Wreath Laying Ceremony with the playing of TAPS by Post 781 to honor Veterans, and VIP introductions.
In addition, 12 Mountain Top First Responder organizations will be recognized for their many years of community service.
Activities will conclude by noon.
